I've no idea if this will fit the PlayMate toy. It was made to fit the resin shells used in production.
Here's my build from the 90's with a repaint. I should change the screen to smoked plex but I didn't know about that when I made the prop. I tried to edit the sound out but that failed so I hope you like baseball.

This is an old design I made that includes another ISD chip that needs to be recorded into before use. It was made to fit a hollowed out production shell.
Yes I actually did fit all this in and it was not easy.
Same circuit as the Cricket. It also uses an ISD chip that needs to be recorded into before using. You could use another sound card since these are pretty roomy.

This one is all mine, save for the "buzz" circuit from the RAC Klingon Tricorder, and based off reference photos. There is both a medical and a science version and each type uses the same rear display.
This one took awhile for me to get together because I was putting components on the bottom layer for the first time pretty much how I hand built them.
