All 9? no....
Finally got the sculpt, mold and casting done for the Bajoran Orb Case Jewels.
Very nice, Rusty! What material will you use to cast them translucent with color?
This was the first cast out of the mold, I used a Smooth On Clear Cast 590 takes 24 hours to fully cure. I'll back it with some blue vinyl instead of mixing a dye into the resin. This is for use in an upcoming fan film.
Hey there! How did your paint job work out? If you are interested, I have some pics of one of the Orb cases when I visited Proper Effects when they were in business. Colbyenjoylifewell2014@gmail.com
Any progress Rusty?
Yes, please post your pics here!
Here's the best of the few pics I have...many moons ago.
Thanks for posting
You are welcome! Since the number of your members have been great help it's the least I can do to contribute to this group! Unfortunately I don't know any of the paint codes but The picture has a pretty good rendition of the colors used
Test fitting the orb jewel. a bit of a gap on the bottom to fill and close.
Rusty your going to have to round out the jewel a little more it's not just a bullnose cut on the top it has more roundness to it. I will try and find one of the jewels. The ring that the jewel sits on has a lot of words engraved on top/sides.
Rusty, that looks great. Cool prop and it will display well too. What your plans on the interior, if any? Also, are these and the other projects for yourself, or are they commissions you do for other people?
Thanks Mike! I was kinda basing the desing off this photo, I guess with the blue light it kind of made it look flat on the surface. I originally sculpted it in clay and cast it in clear resin. Max later told me they were cut from solid pieces of acrylic.
Well for the first one yes, but then I made a mold and cast the rest of them. I am going to storage to pick up a few things I will see if I can find the master and photo it.
Well I did not find the master (too many boxes) but I did find a cast. So you can see in the photo the correct curve. Side shot longest side going L to R
Those photos are at Bear's desk at Prop'er Effects. That is one of the back ground non functional orb cases
Thanks Mike! I think initially I had them at that profile but ended up taking some wire and flattened the top.
There is a slite flat on top but very small
