Well here I go again building a set of three viewers with base parts from Mike that were picked up something like two years ago through TPZ. The parts consist of five vacuform pulls that the shells are created from leaving out the pipe that forms the hinge and the back of the view screen.
I have several reference photos from Mike that give some critical dimensions and show some important clues to the construction. I’ll share these if Mike allows.
The first part in the build, at least for me, was to figure out the hinge area which looks like some sort of pipe, and based on screen shots, allows the screen to be positioned at an angle ranging from 0 degrees to about 30 degrees. My plan will be to use an all-thread rod through the pipe to form an armature that attached to the base and display by brass arms and today I went shopping at an Ace Hardware store to buy the parts. The tough one was going to be the pipe which looks like PVC with 1/8" wall thickness. 1.25" ID pipe does the trick and I bought a underground wiring conduit pipe that is just the right size. It’s 1.25" Cantex schedule 40 pipe and is exactly 1.675" OD like the reference photo shows.
