Hi Paul! Never too late for a party! Thanks for sharing that link. Yes I had considered something like that years ago HOWEVER there are too many problems with it. First...ITS TOO SLOW. Too Big and you need to keep in mind that you need to engineer it at a minimum to incorporate at least a minimal amount of “canon” ie the brass rod that connects the two half’s together. It would be an impossible task. BELIEVE ME, IVE TRIED!!
If you have seen some of the videos I posted earlier (and keep in mind I haven’t posted the latest yet) you will see the brass rod that is canon to the original.
The other obvious wrinkle with using something like that is that there is no audible clicking sound.
Since those videos that I posted earlier in this thread I have actually worked out all the kinks and have to say that I can honestly say I have PERFECTED the mechanism and got the tone of the clicks down pat. Even down to the tonal up down at the end as it opens.
I will post the latest videos in time. I’m still finishing the body and getting ready for my second set of molds
I do appreciate your asking and posting the video that was a great find!! I wish I still had my travel clock like that. Alas it was sacrificed for sake of research on this project! LOL!
