Here's a weird one... As seen in the DS9 episode "Visionary," and Voyager episode "Collective," one unique engineering/medical tool was made from a Romulan Warbird nacelle (from AMT's "3 Piece Adversary Set" model kit).
In the DS9 episode, it was used to adjust O'brien's armband injection device... here are some screencaps:
As mentioned above, the base is the 3 Piece Adversary Set's Romulan Warbird nacelle:
The lights inside are simply the flasher board from a
Marlboro party lighter - the same base item as was used for the borg neural processor in First Contact (these show up on several other items in DS9 season 6 and 7):
See HMS's post below for an update
Here are the model parts along with
the flasher board. I'm not sure if the clear parts on the end were used. The trapezoidal pieces don't fit particularly well and some frosted clear styrene over the interior of the hole would look just the same as the screencaps. The clear saddle piece seems unused based on the screencaps.
Anyone know if there are any other appearances of this? Did it ever come up for auction?
Even with the simple construction and good close-up on DS9, there are still some unknowns...
-What does the back side look like?
-What kind of textured styrene is used to make those plates on the top and bottom (covering the model kit attachment points)?
-Where was the switch?
Pictured above, the "switch" is the copper spring on the right - easily relocated to a tact switch. I'm thinking somewhere on the back or the butt that isn't visible in the episode.
-Was there a way to access the interior to change the battery? Again, maybe a panel on the back side?
