I've been using an old version of Freehand (5.0) that I bought in something like 1995 for years and have really become used to it, but it is a 16 bit program that won't run on Windows 7, or Windows 10 for that matter. So I tried to find a boxed copy of the program in it's newest version before adobe killed it but could only find MAC versions or download versions of Freehand MX. I then tried to find Illustrator in a pre-cloud version to no avail. I felt leery of the dl versions so I bit the bullet and subscribed to Illustrator CC and have been paying Adobe $20.00 a month and hating it every time I get a billing notice. Gawd I hate the cloud!
So long story short, I bought a dl version of Freehand MX (2005) for about $50.00 and I couldn't be happier. It's familiar, runs on Windows 10, and doesn't cost me a monthly fee.
