I wanted to give everyone a heads up that there’s an extensive collection of LCARS graphics being auctioned off in less than a day. Probably more than 150. They are mainly from the latter part of TNG, but also some depict the Enterprise-A and a few other odds and ends. Lots of episode-specific stuff, and Romulan and Klingon graphics too. Some are untrimmed and have the original enlargement directions on them.
The site says that the lower estimate is the reserve. That would put a lot of these out of some of our price ranges, no doubt. But the reserve can be lifted by the seller if they want, so it might be worth it to put in a bid, even if it isn’t more than the lower estimate; you may get it!
There are also some cut up graphics at the end of the listed items that do not have a posted estimate, that might allow someone to snatch them up for a few dollars depending on the bidding. But that’s a guess, I don’t know if that can happen.
Also, I should point out that I can’t find any information on the provenance. I’m not sure if any are really screen-used. They might be extras printed at the time, by the production. They might be someone from the print shop making extras off of production artwork. They could be anything.
They are excellent reference at least. They are mostly sharp, high resolution photos. A few are blurry. I made sure to save every image to a folder.
As an addendum, there are quite a few makeup pieces from Star Trek '09 for sale in the same auction, if you’re interested.
Update: Got a message back from the auctioneer claiming these were taken from the sets as they were torn down. I pointed out that many were from prior episodes, so someone was collecting them over time, and asked if he could give the name of the person so the provenance was stronger. I’ll let you know if he does that.
Update: Got a second reply, a little sour, basically telling me no.
