This is a rather ubiquitous prop on Voyager, seen in most episodes.
Here, Neelix is seen pouring from the lesser-seen, larger pot into the handier carafe:
And here is how it's usually seen:
I found people saying that it was from Service Ideas, but the links were out of date and the current product line is different. I didn't have luck using the Internet Wayback Machine, so I went to eBay. I was able to find some listed as Service Ideas products, but expanding my search, I found a few other candidates. Now, this is where it gets a tad confusing. There are some listed as 32fl oz., some 34fl oz.; some were made in China, some in Korea; some had PMI branding, some did not; etc. I can't quite figure out how that all works out. Was there one manufacture with multiple factories, either concurrently or over the years, and then it gets branded differently through various resellers? There are even examples with Starbucks labeling. In other words, is Service Ideas actually not the sole source of these? Should I rule out the possibility of really close knock-offs?
In any event, I can't tell what exactly was used on Voyager. If anyone has more info or speculation on this, let me know. I basically want to know what the real prop most likely is in terms of capacity and branding.
Despite the confusion, I recently bought an example off eBay, and was trying to figure out if I have the right one or not. I can't discern anything that stands out compared against the screencaps I have. But they could be slightly different sizes and I wouldn't be able to tell.
What does look a little off, in person, is the sheen of the black plastic. It reflects a little differently than in the screencaps. But, the auction photos actually show it closer to how it looks on screen, so I think that's just a lighting/photography issue.
Here's the photos of the one I bought:
You can compare the markings on the bottom of my item with this image of a nearly identical pot:
Or this Starbucks pot:
I'd appreciate any input anyone has.
