Continuing my obsession with Picard's personal collection of geeky stuff, I'd like to collect info and images of the TNG era D'k Tahg here. In particular I'm really curious about the knife that Picard receives in "Sins of the Father".
In the episode Worf's brother is first seen wearing the knife and scabbard.
It is later given to Picard during a ceremony.
Picard uses it in a fight later on in the episode. Notice the unique yellow lettering!
After this episode, yhis knife and scabbard set is then seen from time to time on display in Picard's Quarters on a small side table.
and a great sequence in "Suddenly Human"
Good shot of it in "Firstborn"
The knife and scabbard set is also used as set dressing in Worf's quarters occasionally.
The set also appears in some background decor of "Reunion"
You can see the same yellow lettering as in "Sins of the Father"!
I believe this particular knife first appeared in an earlier episode "The Bonding"
According to this article the scabbard was made later for "Sins of the Father".
The article also has a great piece of concept art showing the initial scabbard design-
This particular knife is used without the scabbard in a few episodes too-
An interesting aspect of this knife is that the blade is slightly assymetrical. You can notice it if you look at several screecaps in a row. I'm not sure if this was done on accident or done to make it more "alien".
In it's original form from "Sins of the Father" there was a long chain and brassard connected.
This again comes from the normal Klingon pistol holster-
There is actually also a pretty good photo of a resin stunt copy of this version of the D'k Tahg.
The auction information says it measures 16 in. long x 5 in. wide.
You'll notice the large rectangular cutout out from the main blade and the side blade have the extra curved tips just like the Picard knife.
For comparison here's some pics of a later DS9 versions of the similar DK Tahg.
