I just went through this thread for like the 3rd time.
I have a question, on the painting. The laser etched stencil is a great idea. But, considering the real props were screen-printed, would there be any benefit to finding a material with the same characteristics of the silk/polyester material and use that to squeegee paint through, in combination with the laser stencil, to get a super-accurate paint job? Sort of a cheap version of screen-printing?
And this image looks like Picard has painted fingernails.
