I'm returning to the prop replica hobby after a several year hiatus. I was fairly active in mid 2000's, but I went off to college and didn't have time to continue the hobby and fell away from it. This summer I'm planning on making a come back!
I've watched all the Star Trek series', but I grew up on TNG, watching old VHS's with my dad.
When I was last doing prop replicas, I mainly focused on smaller/simpler props like medical devices and PADDs. I have a VOY and ENT hyposprays; a handful of various PADDs; along with other, similar types of prop replicas. I've also tinkered around with acuratizing mass-produced role play toys, like the PM phaser and tricorder, and the old STTE communicator.
As I'm getting back into the hobby I'm working on a few PADD kits. I just completed a large VOY PADD. I'm in the process of building up an Endgame PADD and one of Elvis's "In Service" PADDs. I also have a Cardassian Door Bell and a Klingon PADD on my workbench.
As far as skills go, I did lots of recreations of LCARS interfaces for PADDs using CorelDraw. I'll likely continue doing those and would like to learn more about better ways of printing high-quality graphics; inkjet on photo paper just doesn't cut it. I also have other basic crafting skills: X-Acto, scissoring, painting, soldering. I'd like to refine those skills to varying degrees.
I'm looking forward to diving back into this. I've already started rebuilding my toolbox and paint collection. Thanks in advance for all the help!
