This thread is dedicated "In Memoriam" to John Abela "RedJack" at the TPZ who recently died of Suicide due to Depression. Seven years ago I accepted three Brad Nelson Phasers for Restoration. 30 Brad Nelson Phasers later and work on these 2 Replicas is because of John.
RIP John Abela, "RedJack"
About the Paint. Bradley Nelson used Flat Grey and Flat Black sprayed at a distance to get a textured look.
I have used:
P2 Body: Rust-oleum 7221 Dark Pewter
P1 Body: Rust-oleum 7220 Black
In Canada, Tremclad Dark Pewter Textured, Black Textured.
First prime and coat. I'm using Buddahaid's Bullet Catch and Brass Hook to secure P1 to P2 (easy to service). I'm having Trouble with the Emitter. The angle is 5 Degrees projecting 1 inch out of the Nozzle. I have no problem until I drill and polish the hole for the Xeon Bulb. I get cracks, working on it. I want the drill marks polished out but the cracks show up close to finishing the piece. I like the rear metal ribs in place of the resin. Later- Steve
