Didn’t the ship’s plans appear in ST:TMP? What happened then?
Ship’s plans were a different animal. Copyright held by Paramount. Tech Manual copyright held by FJ, owned Karen Schnaubelt, Daughter.
“Star Trek “started” in 1964 when the first pilot was made. Andrew Probert didn’t come to work on Star Trek until the 1970s during the production of The Motion Picture. By then, Franz Joseph’s Star Fleet Technical Manual had proven to be a big seller, but due to a clerical mistake the copyright for the book was issued to him instead of Paramount Pictures and Gene Roddenberry received no financial benefit from its success. Gene was furious about this, so in 1986 during preproduction on TNG he devised “Roddenberry’s Rules of Starship Design” which were explicitly designed to invalidate the starship designs seen in Franz Joseph’s Technical Manual.”
So, The logo used was Modified. Someone is not doing their Homework.
I would never post something about early fandom that wasn’t Spot On. Sorry, I’m not too Loud. Few people know Me.-SGT
