So now that I have a proper house I would be very happy to host a Fleet Workshop SF Bay Area prop meet-up here later this year. I would be happy to show folks my workshop (which hopefully by then will be complete!) and my own modest collection, but hopefully others would be able to bring props to show. More importantly, it would just be a great opportunity for some in-person camaraderie. One advantage of this particular meet-up compared to locations in the past is we could make it a relaxed day-long affair in a comfortable setting, which would lend itself to more "talking shop," which to me is the best part.
I was thinking of holding the event itself on a Saturday and then perhaps on the Sunday after we could organize a tour of Star Trek locales in SF or a trip down to the "Cetacean Institute" (which is actually down in Monterey).
I'm trying to find a date that might work. @kertratz is going to be in the area the weekend of June 3rd, so I figured that would be a good place to start as any.
I know that @Nicksdad (perhaps also @NickyTea) and @EWilliams have expressed an interest in attending. We also have locals @Buddahaid, @pvault, and @squib (all of whom I've not had nearly enough occasion to hang out with since moving to the area!) I would also love to be able to entice @JoeB, @nygeekgirl, @pielock373, @dave, @LostinTrek, @dzircher, @Eric_Ardros, @RustyH, and others who have been welcome and frequent fixtures at our meet-ups in the past, but I realize that it's a major undertaking to come all the way out here for many of you.
I know hotels in the area can be expensive, but there is also a very active Airbnb scene here (as you might imagine).
Anyway, there are many logistics to discuss, but I wanted to get the discussion going. Please chime in if you'd be interested!
