I recall reading somewhere (possibly in Doug Drexler’s “Smithsonian Report” / Poster Book article) that when the 11-footer was donated by Paramount, there was a red grain-of-wheat bulb hanging by wires from the lower dome.
I have to say, it is very exciting to see the pieces of the big E so far that have been posted. I’ve seen a few large replicas of the ship in person and in photos, last one that comes to mind was on the Intrepid in NY when the Gailleo toured there back in 2016. They are always “off” in some / many ways (most don’t even really try to be accurate), and thus cause a fair bit of mis-firing in my brain, despite my efforts to appreciate them. From what I’ve seen so far, this one will be spot-on, and my poor brain will be thankful I’m sure.
