Thank you for the plans, first of all. I’ve been learning to use SketchUp, and since your plans were so complete, I thought it would make a good project to model this console. I wasn’t planning to post until I was further along, but I ran into some problems.
Could anyone else take a look at the profile view of the console with the angles and dimensions? At first my problem was there didn’t seem to be an easy way to just move from line to line because some points were missing dimensions, some points angles, etc. I thought I could just piece it together by laying down guides and making sure that the certain points ended up matching the diagram. But…
Either I’m muddled and reading it incorrectly (in which case nevermind), or the diagram has inaccurate dimensions. For instance, the angle that constitutes the bottom and back planes is listed as 67°. I don’t care where I measure from, no instance of 67° will match the illustrations. What does match fairly close, is 80°. If the bottom and back sides are angled 5° off horizontal and vertical, that adds up 90°. And given that the 4° of the top panel is very close to 5°, and the rest of the angles listed end with multiples of 5°…perhaps this is what was intended when the original plans were drawn up?
Also there are other points where if I follow the constraints of the diagram the dimensions and angles don’t line up.
Again, maybe I’m just confused. I would appreciate it if someone else could do a quick check to see if I’m losing it.
If, in fact, there are some errors. I could help prepare a model that maybe can fix those few issues. Or someone who is more proficient in CAD and modelling could?
