Many years ago (something like 20!), I built a TOS Tricorder from a kit I purchased. Assembly was quite straight-forward except for where the top of the back and the rotating head piece interacted. Specifically, the back piece keeps the head piece rotating from an open to closed position. I ended up just cutting the back piece down leaving a gap, but there is still a problem with interference.
I'd like to go back a fix this problem. Hopefully my skills have improved enough to deal with this.
For those who have built a tricorder, is there some trick to making this work correctly without trimming the top of the back shell low so as to leave a visual gap?
Also, does anyone offer these Kydex shells? I probably will need to provide some photos and/or measurements assuming that there is no one-size-fits-all.
