Does anyone know more about the white prop on the left? Does it appear anywhere else? It looks like a found object. Maybe some kind of kitchen thermometer/timer?
Update: We figured it out below.
Name: Micronta (Radio Shack) Indoor Thermometer/Hygrometer
Dimensions: 7 1/16" x 3 1/8" x 3/4"
Aw, man! I recall that particular prop being discussed somewhere before…
I think it was either a thermostat or thermometer, can’t remember for sure.
@hms has said previously that it was a wall thermostat.
I’ve spent some time looking for that particular one in the past on eBay but had no luck, but I have faith in your mad eBay skills @Lt.Washburn.
thanks for @NickDaring for the auction reference
I’ve also speculated that it could be a digital “weather station” readout (often they show temperature and barometric pressure).
Huh, cool. No brand name associated with it?
Alas, none that we know it. Presumably, it’s buried under one of those bits of tapework.
I recognize it; I’m quite sure my father has the thermometer that this prop was made from. I will be visiting him in Mid May and will take pictures; offer to buy him a new one to replace it lol.
These were sold by Radio Shack’s indoor-outdoor temperature and humidity monitor. I am including a newer model for reference? I still will look up my fathers and reply back after 5/16.
Hahaha! That’s just the sort of thing I would do!
More pics of the wrong model.
Just found it in the '92 Radio Shack catalog, pg. 127. Micronta Indoor Thermometer/Hygrometer 63-844.
It’s also listed in the '91 catalog, pg. 151, as “new”.
Now that we know what it looks like, you can read “Humidity” peeking out under that bit of tape on the prop photo.
Just saw it in the background of this photo, courtesy of @NickDaring, in another thread.
You have to be one of the most observant people I’ve ever known Richard.
Richard has been opening doors since the first recording in 1946.
