The use of Chartpack graphic tape was widespread for TNG as pointed out in one of my other threads. My shuttlepod project will require it with consideralble detail in some areas.
Back in the day companies like Chartpack provided a wide variety of tapes in a range of colors and widths.
But the use of computers for graphic design has all but eliminated the graphic tape market and availability has become very limited.
While looking at a local maker place I noticed they have a vinyl cutter that can make vinyl transfers. I'm considering this as an alternative for the tape. The vinyl transfer films come in a wide variety of colors and can be accurately and consistently reproduced via computer design as opposed to manual layout.
Has anyone used computer cut vinyl transfers for reproducing props and/or sets? Any pros, cons or advice?
