I had been holding off on ordering mine in hopes of being able to use the discount codes like I did on the phaser, but it looks like all the retailers have "wised up" to that game. So I bit the bullet and ordered mine this morning. Super excited.
Anyone know why ThinkGeek has limited you to 2 communicators? I know that many people bought multiples of the phasers and would assume they will again with the comm. Seems to me that limiting the quantity is just going to encourage people to buy from the Star Trek shop instead of thinkgeek.
I wonder what this will do to the collectible market and value of hand made communicator kits. The comm certainly packs a punch for $150, but will extremely accurate replicas built up from JLong kits still hold their value? I suppose you still see "designer" phasers take a pretty penny in spite of the amazing Wand Co Phaser, but somehow I dont see DStines and JLong kits pulling in big tickets on eBay like they do now once these are on the shelf.
