Awesome work James
Looks great, Is there a member meet up date set yet?
I always used to notice these things back in the 60's watching the show. Another great addition to the set.
Mitch, I just started a thread for this prop meet event.
Our recreation of the 11 foot shooting miniature is underway! Here is The Main Sensor Dish (minus it's center spike) Masterfully recreated by Bill George and his team from plans by Gary Kerr! Both these Gents helped to restore The Original model at The Smithsonian and our goal is to make a totally accurate 11 foot reproduction for STAR TREK:ORIGINAL SERIES SET TOUR!Watch for more updates!!
OMG, what? Aw man, I need to make my way down there at some point, lol.
You guys strangely keep doing those things I think quietly to myself, "what if...".
Do you guys want to do the other miniatures? 3' Enterprise, shuttlecraft, etc.?
That's because, unknown to us, they can read our minds They're sneaky like that, lol.
Go James baby!!! You make all of our dreams come into reality!!!
The picture needs a soda can in the picture for scale.
The deflector dish is, what, 8-10 inches wide?
I've been asked to make the central.spike for the dish! I am honored to be part of this recreation!
That sounds right up your alley with your metal talents. Very cool!
Tres cool. Do us proud!
That's really neat Steve.
plus I have a good feeling you will put up progress photos on it and we get to vicariously see it getting made. How awesome is that
Do it up Steve P. !!!!!
Steve: you need to read Richard Datin's biography by his daughter, for inspiration. It was Datin who built the 3-foot Enterprise and who supervised construction of the 11-footer (and who also built the railroad miniatures for "Petticoat Junction.")
Her book is now 10 bucks on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Enterprise-NCC-1701-Model-Maker/dp/1518644880/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489110393&sr=8-1&keywords=richard+datin
^ A second recommendation for the Datin book!
